It’s been a… very interesting few months.
I did a single post about the SpyroClone and then did not do anything else! I did work on it! A little. Just never sat down for another dive into what I was doing.
Also I had a very intense rank test in July and it took me about two weeks to emotionally recover from that experience. I passed and made White Rope, but man. I just wanted to sleep, for a month.
This will not be a dive into the SpyroClone, because the industry has been so up and down lately, I’ve had to completely change engines.
In September, Unity decided to try to do a very questionable ‘per install runtime fee’ and I actually felt like just quitting all together. Then I watched the creator of Caves of Qud port his entire game to Godot in a weekend and I felt inspired again! The only problem being that I’m on a training contract right now, and don’t necessarily have time to do game dev along with training and work outs. And Balder’s Gate, which has me in a choke hold.
But I started diving into Godot, and one of the pluses, for me, is that I can still use C#. GDScript is also pretty easy to pick up, though dynamic typing takes a while to get used to. But I appreciate that there’s a 3D ’tile’ editor, and the hot reloading is -amazing-.

I did make a spinning slime of doom though: https://twitter.com/i/status/1708301605068759272

Then Epic decided to lay off 900 people and I just laid down and accepted my fate. That fate being one of a indie dev until the world ends.
So yeah. It’s been a whole time. I’m doing about as good as you could expect, given everything.
Going to try to make a little game for Halloween/All Hallow’s Eve with what time I have available between training, working out, working, and crafting projects.
See you all on the flip side!
